Toscana Wine Retreat is a comprehensive 4-day, 3-night package that welcomes a small group of international wine enthusiasts. Conducted entirely in English, it offers participants the opportunity to share their passion for wine and to learn many new things about Tuscan wine culture.

Roberta Costante DipWSET will lead the wine education sessions, while I will be organizing the overall retreat to ensure each guest experiences the most memorable wine journey! The spots are limited as this is the very first edition, and I wanted to offer my readers early access as valued members of my community.

What the Q&A video covered

The Toscana Wine Retreat 2024 was a four day, small group wine education stay on the Tuscan coast, close to the Bolgheri area, for 10 to 14 guests. Guests tasted about 12 to 15 wines a day, around 40 over three full days. In this 30 minute live Q&A, Roberta Costante DipWSET and I answered the questions we received after the launch. • Who it was for: all levels were welcome, from enthusiasts to wine professionals, with a basic knowledge ideal. Guests could join on their own, with a single room rate.
• What was included: all costs from arrival at the venue to checkout on day four, including breakfast and lunch at the venue, dinners in local restaurants and the wines. Travel to the venue was not included, but we offered to suggest trains or arrange a private transfer from the airport. Vegetarian and vegan guests were welcome, and other dietary needs were taken into account.
• The program: education sessions led by Roberta, food and wine pairing with the venue chef, and winery visits. The visits were planned in Bolgheri and in a lesser known area further inland, at a winery that makes separate micro vinifications for each plot. Guests met winemakers, and on day two they played the blend game, blending single varietals into their own wine. There was no grape harvest, as harvest is over by November.
• Why November and four days: the weather is usually still mild, there are fewer visitors, and wineries have more time to host a technical, educational visit. Four days left room to add Florence or Rome before or after. Free time was limited to a rest after lunch, with no time for personal tours during the retreat.
• What to bring: comfortable shoes and light jackets for mornings and evenings.
• Wines and booking: any wine tasted could be bought and shipped to the guest’s home after the retreat. A discount was offered when more than two guests shared a triple or quadruple room. The cancellation policy was published on the retreat website. At the time of the live, a few spots were still available.
