Have you ever tasted olive oil in the days right after the harvest? So many of you have been writing to ask about it: this is one of the most awaited emails of the year! Even though I usually write about wine, every late October the arrival of the new olive oil sparks an incredible amount of curiosity and excitement!
The scent of crushed olives
It’s that time of the year again when the air smells of crushed olives and the countryside turns into a patchwork of silver and green. The frantoio hums all day, and the scent of fresh oil fills the air: sharp, fruity, alive.
This moment brings me back to childhood memories: standing beside my grandfather as he proudly tasted the first drops of “olio nuovo” on a slice of bread still warm from the fire. That peppery note on the throat was (and still is!) a sign of quality, of life, of nature’s rhythm continuing its beautiful cycle.

L’Oliveta and the 2026 harvest

This year, I’ve personally chosen the new olive oil from L’Oliveta, a family-run estate managed with care and dedication by Roberta and Maurizio, together with their daughters Martina and Ilenia. With over 2,000 olive trees growing in the rolling Tuscan hills, they cultivate traditional varieties such as Frantoio, Leccino, and Moraiolo, producing an oil that speaks of harmony and heritage.
The 2026 harvest is bringing wonderful news across Tuscany: after last year’s smaller crop, the Consorzio of Olio Toscano IGP expects production well above the average of the past ten years, with healthy, beautiful olives and satisfying yields at the mill. The long dry summer kept the olive fly away, and the harvest is now in full swing across the hills. Their olio nuovo promises to be, once again, a vibrant expression of the land and of the people who lovingly tend it.
Reserve your box of olio nuovo
If, like me, you love the taste of authenticity, this is the perfect moment to bring Tuscany to your table. A drizzle of green gold, straight from our land to your home.
For those who wish to enjoy it at its freshest, I’ve opened a limited pre-release of the new harvest: a limited number of 6-bottles boxes available before the oil officially reaches the market.
You can easily adjust your quantity directly from the link: 12, 18, or more bottles if you wish to stock up or share. It also makes a beautiful gift, and there’s something truly special about being among the very first to taste the new oil of the season!
As I write, the kitchen smells of toasted bread and the first drizzle of this bright green oil: a simple joy I wish I could share with each of you.
May it bring a little warmth of Tuscany to your home too!
Un abbraccio,
Claudia
