Today I’m writing this weekly WineLetter, while my kids are sleeping in.
Schools out, daylight lasting well into the evening, and suddenly, everything feels a little lighter. Summer is finally here, bringing that much-needed breath of fresh air we’ve all been waiting for. It’s time for open skies, relaxation, and, above all, great toasts.
To celebrate this beautiful beginning, in the last days I’ve been scouting for boutiques wineries offering magical sunset experiences for my guests and I.
What a surprise to get in touch with the summer events of Fattoria Casa di Terra, “Bolgheri Sunset Experience” a weekly event to enjoy the estate’s wines while soaking in a stunning sunset. There’s no better way to kick off the sunny season and toast to a spectacular summer ahead, with its entire story yet to be written.
About the estate
Fattoria Casa di Terra is a truly “open” winery. It is a warm, welcoming space, that can be defined as “home” (Casa). Believe me or not, but if you take a look inside the kitchen, you’ll find the mother Marisa cooking for everyone!
And that’s what truly matters, the warmth that only a family can give you.
The story goes all the way back to 1953, when the grandparents of the current owners, Gessica and Giuliano Frollani, chose Bolgheri as the place to build their dream. Today, the estate counts around 50 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Bolgheri DOC, where a unique mix of river pebbles, marine deposits, and volcanic rocks gives each plot its own personality. The grapes are the Bolgheri classics – Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon – grown with the same daily dedication the family has put into this land for over seventy years.
If you want to experience the true poetry of this estate, there is no better way than through their exclusive Bolgheri Sunset Experience events. Imagine the sun dipping into the Tuscan sea, painting the sky and the vineyards, while you relax with a glass of exceptional wine and delicious local food.
And here is some exciting news: the next Bolgheri Sunset Experience is happening every week, all summer long!
I am definitely looking forward to the next one on June 19th: sparkling wines paired with a classic Italian Frittura, a beloved tradition of light, crispy fried bites, from seafood to vegetables. Let’s be honest, there’s nothing quite like crispy, golden bites to make those bubbles shine even brighter. The effervescence cuts right through the richness of the fry, cleansing your palate and making every sip feel like the first one. Pure magic.
It promises to be an unforgettable evening of great vibes, breathtaking views, and, of course, unparalleled wines.
I always say that being part of the wine world is a privilege, but sometimes you stumble upon a place that leaves you truly speechless. That’s exactly how I felt when I discovered Fattoria Casa di Terra, a place that perfectly captures the modern soul and ancient magic of Bolgheri. A true gem of the Tuscan coast.
Needless to say… I definitely won’t miss the Bolgheri Sunset Experience events. Will I see you there?
